11) Edmond R Andis:
born 16 May 1845 Lee Co, VA
(Bible
entry);
died 25 Aug 1862 possibly Culpeper, Culpeper, VA
(Bible
entry); death

Civil
War - Confederacy;
note: Edmond served in the Civil War. He
was in Company A of the 48th Virginia Infantry.
He enlisted 14 Mar 1862, and fought for the Confederacy (view
48th Regiment battles).
His occupation was a saddler. He received distinguished service status.
Edmond's military records
note: Edmond may possibly be buried at Fairview Cemetery in the Confederate Mound at Culpeper, Culpeper, VA. As far as the records show, there was no Edmond R. Andes or E. R. Anders in the 49th or the Confederacy, and there seems to be only one Edmond R. Andis in the Confederacy. On May 25, 1921, the Culpeper Exponent, a local newspaper, published a list of names of Confederate soldiers buried in the Confederate Mound. This list was copied from the May 27, 1866 issue of the Culpeper Observer compiled by the "Ladies of Culpeper". Additionally, Robert J. Hodge's "A Death Roster of the Confederate General Hospital at Culpeper" lists: Anders, E.R., Virginia, Forty-Ninth (His service record not found). Hodge included Anders' name because it appears in the newspaper, not because it was in the hospital records. The 48th VA was operating in the area, fighting at Cedar Run, VA (Culpeper Co.) 11 Aug 1862. Edmond's records prove that Edmond was in the Gordonsville, VA area at the end of July 1862.
