Born Feb. 13, 1917, in Monroe County, he was the son of Cleotis and Doris (Hacker) Sample .
He was retired from Allison Division of General Motors in Indianapolis. He attended Whitehall Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Sue Purtlebaugh of Bloomington, Leatha Hillenburg of Bloomfield and Jane Young of Odon; three sons, Joe Sample of Indianapolis, Bill Sample of Franklin, Tenn., and Marcus Sample of Bloomington; one brother, Otis Sample of Bloomington; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Burl Sample ; one sister, Betty Robinson; and one infant brother, Robert Sample .
Services will be 10 a.m. today at Day Mortuary with Brother Donnie
Campbell, Brother Joe Nelson and Brother Charlie Deckard officiating. Burial
will be at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
