Carolyn “Cay” Reedy passed away on October 14, 2011 at her home in Lawrence, KS.
She was born in Timber Lake, South Dakota, to Christian and Clara Jensen. She earned her teaching degree and later a business administration degree.
She married Curtis Reedy in 1942 and they eventually settled in Southern California. She enjoyed 35 exceptional years working for Hughes Aircraft Company before retiring in 1988. While she truly loved California, she and Curt decided to move to Lawrence, KS to be closer to their daughter and three grandkids.
She embraced the Lawrence community and volunteered at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for over 15 years creating many wonderful memories. She leaves her family and friends to always remember her kind, loving, and unbreakable spirit. She was a role model and inspiration and lived a life of adventure, dancing, laughter, and love. Her memory and presence in our hearts will be a constant reminder of all she taught us, the joy she brought to our lives, and her genuine nature and strength of will.
Survivors include her daughter, Sue Vernon, three grandchildren, Kristin, Kevin and Rob Vernon, her brother, Robert Jensen and his wife, Noreen, her sister, Marian French, and her husband, Glen, and her sister-in-law, Gwen Reedy.
A gathering will be held in her memory on Friday, Oct. 21, 2011 at the Chapel Oaks Funeral Home, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and later in California at a time to be determined.
The family suggests memorials to Lawrence Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Services, Douglas County Visiting Nurses Hospice Care, or the Lawrence Humane Society. Arrangements are being handled by Lawrence Chapel Oaks.
