Elgie Whitney Custer County Chief (Broken Bow, NE) June 27, 1957
Elgie Whitney, 79, died Wednesday morning, June 26 on a plane bound from
Roseberg, Ore. To his home in Long Beach, Calif.
Whitney, a resident of the Broken Bow vicinity for approximately 20 years, was
visiting his daughter in Oregon before boarding the plane for Long Beach. The
Whitneys moved from Custer county in 1920.
Survivors include his wife, Iva., and one daughter, Mrs. Lenola Patterson of
Roseburg, Ore. And one granddaughter, Mrs. Diane Van Dewalker of Ashland, Ore.,
also surviving are two grandchildren, Nicki and Stevie Van Dewalker.
Funeral arrangements are not complete. He was a brother to the late Porter
Whitney of Broken Bow.
