Floyd E. Welch Jr. August 17, 1922 - December 29, 2007 Died peacefully in his sleep at home on December 29, 2007.
He has now joined Virgina (Bowman) Welch, his wife of 58 years who preceded him in 2004. Floyd, an engineer, graduated from UC Berkeley in 1943 and was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He has resided in San Mateo since 1950 and was involved in the City of San Mateo's politics throughout the 1970s including mayor of San Mateo from 1973-1974. He was an avid fisherman, bridge player and an active member of Elk's Lodge #1112.
Floyd will be greatly missed by his children: Margaret Morrison of San Mateo, Shirley Welch of Portland, OR, Diane Barton of Helena, MT, and Bruce Welch of Sacramento, CA; as well as his six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Shirley Edson of Orange County, CA.
All are invited to a Celebration of Floyd's life on Saturday, January 19, 2008 at 3:00PM, First Baptist Church of San Mateo (2801 Alameda de las Pulgas). In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Pathways Hospice Foundation, 585 N. Mary Ave., Sunnyvale, CA 94085.
