In the matter of Julia A Bowman, Mother of Pleasant Bowman, late, a member of Company K 49th Reg't Ind Inf Vols.

On this 8th day of March 1894, personally appeared before me a notary public in and for the aforesaid county and state, duly authorized to administer oaths, Samuel S Williams, aged 46 years, a resident of Burns City, County of Martin and state of Indiana, and Nelson Sinclair, aged 48 years, a resident of Burns City, County of Martin and state of Indiana, well known to me to be reputable and entitles to credit, and who being duly sworn, declares in relation to the aforesaid case as follows:

That said soldier's father William Bowman died about March 25 1893 and that claimant has not since remarried that claimant is without other present means of support except her own labor and contributions of others not legally bound for her support except she has a net income above taxes and repairs of about $100.00 per year derived from a poor farm left her by her late husband. That she only owns said farm during her natural life and she has no other income whatever except any help from her children not legally bound for her support said farm in which she has life time interest is 167 acres of poor hilly land of the cash value of about $1150.00 she owns no other property except her household goods and one cow and she had no other property at the time of her said husband's death about March 25 1893 and there is no person legally bound for her support and she is in verry bad health and does not seem she will ever be much better and can't set up all day at a time and they do believe her claim should have immediate action.
