Miscellaneous Information

1) Wife of Isaac "Ike" Andis: Mary Elizabeth Myers - born 1836 NC; died after 1918 probably IN (some researchers state she died in Crawfordsville, Montgomery, IN on 18 Jul 1917 (age 81), but this woman is listed as Mary Elizabeth Myers, with no reference to Andis, and her obituary states she was born in Parke County, IN as Mary E Jarvis and nothing else matches); Mary was possibly separated or divorced from Isaac; Mary's son Walter indicates on his 1904 marriage application that his mother's name is Mary Martin. We find a Mary Martin, married to Henry Martin (born Mar 1828 IN) living in Henry Co, IN in the 1900 census.  Those 1900 records state Mary was born Mar 1835 NC and they had been married for 20 years.  We feel that there is a high probability of a match for this Mary, especially given that Henry County is adjacent to Hancock County, IN. Unfortunately, the only areas that do not compute is that this Mary states she had given birth to 1 child, with 0 still living and her parents were born in OH and VA.  In earlier censuses, she stated they were both born NC.

2) We have a copy of Ike and Mary's marriage certificate.

3) * We have a copy of a death index for Hancock Co, IN, stating Isaac Andis died in 1880.  Isaac was enumerated in the 1880 Federal Census dated 22 Jun 1880, so if he indeed died in 1880, it was after this date.  This is the information that makes us question the date of Isaac's death or the possibility of another Isaac Andis in the area:  On the marriage application for Isaac's son, Benjamin "Frank" Andis, he states his father as Wesley Andis.  Our research shows his father is Isaac Andis, although it may be Isaac Wesley Andis or Wesley Isaac Andis.  He also states at the time of this application in 1918 that both parents are living, but they are living in two different towns in Hancock County, Indiana (Fortville and Greenfield) - possibly showing they are either separated or divorced.
