Miscellaneous Information
1) We have a copy of James and Elizabeth's marriage record.

2) We now believe that Orlenia (born c. 1844 IN) and WAC (born c. 1848 IN) were not James and Elizabeth's children. In 2013, we found the marriage record for James and Elizabeth, and given the fact that this marriage was not until 21 Jun 1849, we now feel these children are not theirs. They are listed in the 1850 census as Andis children, but we can only speculate that they were possibly Andis relations of James, or those of James from a prior marriage. James was 27 at the time of his marriage to Elizabeth, which certainly leaves time for another marriage before that. It is doubtful that they were Elizabeth's, as she was married to James as Elizabeth Miller.

3) We have various documents regarding land transactions by Matthias Andis (James's grandfather) and his heirs. They include purchase, sale and distribution of land in Washington Co, VA. These are very important documents to our research, as they conclusively tie Matthias, his children, and his grandchildren together.

4) James is noted in the book "History of Martin County".

5) Civil War draft registration records. James served in the Mexican War.  He enlisted on 22 May 1847 at Hendersonville, TN and was in Company D of ___ Regiment (illegible).  He was discharged on 07 Aug 1848 at Newport, KY and was a Private at the expiration of his service (see records here).

6) We have a copy of the document where James and Elizabeth Andis sold land to William Bowman on 28 Apr 1854.  William paid $300.00 for the East half of the NW quarter of the NW quarter of Section 4, Twp 4N, Range 4W in Martin Co, IN (120 acres).
We also have General Land Office record from 1851.
