Home

Katherine Marie Boman passed away Wednesday, March 21st, after 98 years of loving and serving her family as a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was born on September 1, 1913 in San Diego, CA. During World War II, she worked as a machinist for Lockheed Aircraft in California.

She married Ralph Boman. During their life together, they made homes in Virgil, Kansas, Northridge, California, retiring in Gardnerville, Nevada.

Kay was fantastic with her hands. She could sew, knit, crochet, and do leather goods. All of these crafts were self-taught. She was a wonderful cook and baker also.

Kay made sure her grandchildren, Dan Hamer and Suzy (Hamer) Van Blaricom, arrived home from school every day with fresh sweet rolls, Rice-Krispie Treats or dried fruits waiting for them.

Katherine was a loving mother to Kenny Dillon, her son and Linda Hamer, her daughter. She dearly loved her son-in-law, John Hamer, her granddaughter, Suzanne, her grandson, Dan, her granddaughter-in-law, Rachel Hamer and her great-grandchildren, Jakob and Mikayla Van Blaricom, and Abigail and Elsie Hamer.

She is preceded in death by her one sister, three older brothers, her husband, Ralph, and her son, Ken Dillon.

Many thanks to the wonderful angels at the Carson Valley Senior Living for all the kindness and love they extended to Kay, but especially during the last weeks of her preparation for her journey home.

A memorial service, with luncheon to follow, is scheduled for 11:00am, Saturday, March 31st at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Gardnerville, in which Katherine was the oldest member.
