James Calvin Harris, 66, Paragon, died at 6 p.m. Jan. 6, 2009, in Paragon.

Born May 7, 1942 in Indianapolis, he was the son of the late William Harris and Martha Sink.

He married Goldie (Cook) Harris on May 24, 1989. She survives in Paragon.

A self-employed contractor, he was a member of the Lions Club, Redneck Yacht Club and Conservation Club, all in Paragon.

He was most at home with his horses, grandchildren and being in his barn.

Other survivors include two sons, James Harris of Gosport and Teddy Wethington of Indianapolis; two daughters, Mary Bivens and Angela Harris, both of Paragon; two brothers, Robert Lee and Ronnie Harris; a sister, Patty Emmons; three half-sisters, Armeda, Debbie and Becky; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie Sample.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Costin Funeral Chapel in Martinsville. Mike Trainer will officiate.

Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral chapel.

Burial will be in Gosport Cemetery.
