Margaret Saunders Haile , a much beloved Virginia lady and former resident of Chevy Chase , Washington , for 60 years , died peacefully in her sleep in Tappahannock , Va. on June 8 , 2001.Born in 1907 in Champlain , Va. , she led a full life of beauty , wit , charm and service to others.She was graduated from Westhampton College , University of Richmond , at the age of 19 and taught school in Winchester and Arlington.For over 25 years Mrs. Haile served on the Flower Guild of the National Cathedral of Saint Peter and Saint Paul and volunteered at the Florence Crittenden Thrift Shop , the All Saints Episcopal Thrift Shop , and at the Episcopal Center for Children.She was also a past member of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.She was married to William Bucker Haile for 44 years until his death in 1975.Survivors include three children : Jane Haile Dawkins of Alexandria , Va. and Key West , Fla. , William Buckner Haile Jr. of Scientists' Cliffs , Md. and Edward Wright Haile of Champlain , Va ; and seven grandchildren , Margaret and John Webb , Jessica , Adam and Rachel Haile , and Benjamin and William Haile.

Margaret Saunders Haile Volunteer

Margaret Saunders Haile , 93 , a resident of Tappahannock , Va. , who did volunteer work while living in the Washington area from 1929 to 1995 , died June 8 in a nursing home in Tappahannock.She had a heart ailment.She had been a member of All Saints Episcopal Church at Chevy Chase Circle , where she had volunteered in the thrift shop.She also had volunteered in the thrift shop of the Florence Crittenton Home in Washington and had served on the flower guild of the city's National Cathedral.She was a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America.Mrs. Haile , a former District resident , was a native of Champlain , Va. , and a graduate of the University of Richmond.She taught junior high school classes in Arlington from 1929 to 1931.Her husband of 44 years , William Buckner Haile , died in 1975.
