Adrian Eugene Andes , 93, Westwood Health Care Center, Bluefield, Va., formerly of 2033 Virginia Ave., Bluefield, Va., died Thursday (Oct. 29, 1998) at Westwood Health Care Center. 

Born in Bluff City, he was the son of the late James Martin and Ada Botts Andes . He was preceded in death by one brother, Jim Andes . A resident of Bluefield, Va., since 1937, he was a Virginia State Trooper for 26 years. After retirement, he was elected to Tazewell County Justice of the Peace for four years. He was a member of the Graham Presbyterian Church, where he served as both deacon and elder. 

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Helen Wharton Andes , Westwood Home Health Care Center; a son, A.E. (Gene) Andes Jr., and wife, Carlene, Anderson, S.C.; a daughter, Gloria and husband, G. Carter Kitts, St. Albans, W.Va.; three granddaughters, Claire K. Shea and husband, Michael, Moneta, Va., Karen A. McDaniel and husband, Clinton, Tazewell, Va.; and Angela A. Kelley and husband, Tom, Anderson, S.C.; one great-granddaughter, Dedra McDaniel, Tazewell and two great-grandsons, Bryce and Layne Kelley, Anderson, S.C. 

Calling hours are from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday at Dudley Memorial Chapel, Bluefield, Va. Graveside services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Glencoe Cemetery, Big Stone Gap, Va., with the Rev. Hugh Bowers officiating. Graveside services will also be conducted by the Virginia Police Honor Guard. Contributions may be made to Graham Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, Va. Dudley Memorial Mortuary, Bluefield, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.
