ODON -- Berneice S. Williams, 96, died at 10:40 a.m. Sunday at Gentle Care Nursing Home, Vincennes.

Born Jan. 2, 1908, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Ira and Melinda E. (McCall) Webster.

A member of a Baptist church in Martin County, she attended Odon United Methodist. She worked in Odon schools for 22 years and was a babysitter for six years. She was a member of Methodist Church Quality Club.

She is survived by two daughters, Cleo M. (Graber) McCreary of Granger, and Rosalee (Mrs. Melvin) Wendell of Vincennes; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Josephine George of Williams, and Ruth Wray of Mitchell.

Her husband, James Spencer Williams, died in 1944. One son, James Paul Williams; three sisters, Alberta Mattingly, Alta Ritchey and Geraldine Bridwell; and five brothers, Denver Webster, Harley Webster, Haskell Webster, Rex Webster and Junior Webster, are also deceased.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home, Odon. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from noon until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.
