Obituary - Bert Marion Carr

Bert M. Carr, 82, of Linton, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2004, at 1:07 a.m. at Greene County General Hospital. 

Born July 10, 1921, in Newberry, he was the son of William S. and Martha (Fines) Carr. He was a lifetime farmer and drove a bus for Linton-Stockton High School for several years. He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge 560, and American Legion Post 22, all of Linton, and the Scottish Rite of Terre Haute. He was also an Army Veteran of World War II. 

Survivors include his wife, Meredith (Goodman) Carr, whom he married on May 9, 1953; twin sons John Lee and Jack Lee Carr, both of Linton; and one sister, Naomi Woolwine of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Fines, Curtis Carr, and William Carr; four sisters, Mary Collins, Ruth Whisler, Joanne Leigh and Myrtle Shepherd; and his parents. 

Funeral services will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at Welch and Cornett Funeral Home, Linton chapel, with Rev. John Monroe officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Linton. The Linton Masonic Lodge will conduct memorial services at 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and the Linton American Legion will conduct Military graveside rites.
