Beverly "Priss" Shepherd

CHANNING - Beverly "Priss" Shepherd, 69, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2005.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Church of Christ in Dalhart with
Chester Kimber and Lynn Clay officiating. Burial will be in Channing Cemetery
by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart.

Mrs. Shepherd was born Nov. 5, 1935, on the Mel Davis Ranch in Gray County to
James LeRoy and Bernice Lee (Andis) O'Neal. She attended school in Lefors.
Later the family moved to Clarendon, where she met and married Richard Clyde
Shepherd on Sept. 18, 1954.

They moved to Channing for a short while before moving to the McCloy Ranch in
the Nara Visa, N.M., area where they lived and worked for more than 34 years.
During that time, Priss drove a bus and cooked for the Amistad School. In
1994, they retired and moved back to Channing.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a sister.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linda Preston and husband,
Dennis, of Stinnett and Cindi Cates and husband, Don, of Dumas; three
grandchildren, Layce Heaton and husband, Jerry, of Dalhart, Hayden Preston of
Stinnett and Kelly Cates of Dumas; a great-grandson, Keegan Heaton of Dalhart;
three brothers, Boots O'Neal of Vernon, Wes O'Neal of Holiday and Joe O'Neal
of Electra; and two sisters, Pat Gattis of Irving and Mary Kay Mangum of
Lefors.

The family suggests memorials be to Channing Cemetery Fund in care of Hartley
County Courthouse; or Dumas Memorial Hospice in Dumas.
