Billy Jarrett, 77, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord on Friday December 25, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.

Billy was born in Roaring Fork, VA (Wise County) and lived in Kingsport most of his life. He was retired from Mason-Dixon Truck Lines, as an over the road driver. Billy was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Wayne Jarrett, 1966; his parents, Jessee and Elsie Fleenor Jarrett; one sister, Mary Lou Jennings.

He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Loraine Dickerson Jarrett, of the home; two daughters, Betty Dougherty, of Kingsport and Ann Rasnake and husband, John of Bristol, VA; one granddaughter, April Dougherty of Kingsport; one sister, Ella Sue Proffitt, of Fieldale, VA; one brother, Don Jarrett of Kingsport; special friends, Bobby and Barbara Castle of Kingsport, Dwight Taylor of Kingsport; several nieces, nephews, uncles and aunts.

The family will receive friends from 3 pm to 5 pm on Sunday December 27, 2009 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, 520 Watauga Street, Kingsport.

A funeral service will follow at 5 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Buddy Legg officiating. Music will be provided by the Calvary Road Quartet.

A military graveside service will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday December 28, 2009 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with the American Legion Post 3/265 and Tennessee National Guard conducting the rites. Those who wish to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 12:25 pm.
