Baytown Sun, The (TX) - December 28, 2005 Deceased Name: Brian Lee Thulis

Brian Lee Thulis, beloved son of Mary and the late Bill Thulis, died Sunday, December 4, 2005 as a result of drowning in Lake Conroe. He was born in Dallas, TX October 14, 1959. He attended school at St. Joseph, Bowie, Cedar Bayou Jr. High, and graduated from Ross S. Sterling High School in 1978. He was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes at age 8. Brian was a natural athlete, playing baseball from the age of 9, All-Star status with Little League, Teenage Optimist League, and lettering in high school baseball. He also played football with the Optimist teams, Cedar Bayou Jr. High, and lettered four years at Ross S. Sterling. He served on the Student Council at Sterling and was a class favorite. He attended Lee College, where he received his Associate Degree in Drafting and where he was named a Distinguished Student. He then attended the University of Houston to study Construction Technology. He owned his own construction business until he had health problems due to diabetes. For the past four years, he was a Design Planner for a custom homebuilder.

His family will receive friends at Navarre Funeral Home Wednesday, December 28, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1907 Carolina Ave., Baytown, TX 77520 Thursday, December 29, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Celebration officiated by Rev. Father Dwight Canizares. The Rite of Committal will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands, TX.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Howeth, Michael Vaughn, Dan Vaughn, Don Atherton, Kenneth Osborne, Charles Antonini, and Patrick Vaughn.

He was preceded in death by his father Bill Thulis and grandmother Mary Andis and is survived by his mother, Mary Thulis of Baytown; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Louis Kana of Baytown; brother, Mark Thulis of Denver, CO; stepbrother and wife, Stephen and Laura Thulis of AR; nephews and wives, Scott and Nicki Kana and Kevin and Kirby Kana; uncles and aunts, Jean and Sam Vaughn of Baytown, Margaret and Mike Corta of Las Vegas, NV, and Janet Andis of Denver City; and several cousins and many friends.
