Obituary - Charles Isaac Anderson
BRISTOL, Va. – Charles Isaac Anderson Sr., age 81, passed away Friday, July
14, 2006, at Grace Healthcare in Abingdon.
He was born Oct. 20, 1924, in Washington County, Va., and was a son of the late
Clinton Powell Anderson Sr. and Louisa Garland Slaughter Anderson.
After serving in Germany during World War II, he returned to Washington County
where he was a lifelong diary farmer. He served on numerous boards and
committees within the community and was a member of Lippincott Presbyterian
Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Edith
Combs, Josephine Morris and Irene Furrow, and his brothers, Powell Anderson,
George Anderson and Bruce Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Colleen Kilby Anderson; one son, Charles
Isaac "Ike" Anderson Jr. and wife Ellen of Bristol Virginia; one grandson,
Joshua Isaac Anderson; one granddaughter, Johnna Lee Anderson; four sisters,
Mary Nell Moore, Ruth Rankin, Katie Frost and Lynda Kilby; two brothers, James
Anderson and Eugene Anderson; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend,
David Thomas.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, in
the Akard Funeral Home Chapel, with Dr. Austin Cook and Dr. Stan Anderson
officiating. The committal service and burial will be conducted at 1:30 p.m.
Sunday in Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:15
p.m. Saturday at Akard Funeral Home prior to the service.
