Charles Hobbs

Charles Edward Hobbs, 82, of Bristol, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, March 3, 2007 from Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born on Sunday, June 1, 1924, to the late Charlie Benjamin Hobbs and Flora Virgil Kegley Hobbs. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Peggy Marie Hite Hobbs, sister Eleanor Hobbs Wright, and granddaughter Erin Marie Weatherly. He was a native of Wise County Virginia, graduate of Appalachia High School, veteran of US Army during WWII, retired from the postal service and a member of First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Ida Mae Hobbs; his daughter, Kim Weatherly, and her husband Craig of Bristol Virginia; granddaughter, Sara Denise Weatherly; grandson, Craig Clinton Weatherly; brother, Lowell Hobbs and his wife Betty of Jacksonville, Florida; step sons, Bill Cowan and his wife Brenda of Bristol, Tennessee and Joe Cowan and his wife Barbara of Bluff City, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:45, Tuesday evening, March 6, 2007, at Oakley-Blevins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 8 o'clock in Blevins Memorial Chapel with Rev. Todd Freeman officiating. The committal and interment service will be held at 11 o'clock, Wednesday morning, March 7, 2007, in Shelby Hills Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Phil Weatherly, Travis Weatherly, Joe Cowan, Bill Cowan and Craig Clinton Weatherly. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be mailed to Bristol Cancer Association, 1255 West State Street, Bristol, Virginia 24201.
