Charles Jesse Trowbridge Age 89, born in Delaplaine Arkansas, passed away in Tampa, October 8. A former resident of Indianapolis, he lived in Tampa since 1992, retiring from his Florida business, Primary Maintenance Services in 2004. In Indiana, Charlie was employed at Kingan & Co., Ellis Trucking, and at the State Board of Health.

A proud WWII veteran and member of the 338th Engineers during the North Africa and Italy Campaigns, 1Lt Trowbridge was quite the teller of true war stories. He was especially proud of his brothers, each of whom also served their country. Charlie was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.

Charles was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen (Melton) of Indiana, his second wife of 57 yrs, Wanda (Gallo) of Italy, his parents, Rolla and Zelpha (Andis), his brother Leonard and his wife Naomi, and also from Indiana, his sister-in-law Katherine and his brother-in-law Ralph Bland.

He is survived by his sister May Bland, brothers John and Clifford and his wife Margaret, all from Indiana, his daughter Viviana and her children Marcella and Nicholas Miller from Marietta, Georgia, and his son Ronald and his children Heather and Justin from Tampa. Charlie was especially fond of his grandchildren as well as Becky Pearson, the mother of Ronald's children and Kerry their step-mother. Charlie also leaves behind his new friend and companion Blanche, who he came to love in his final days.

Nothing in life was more valuable to Charlie than his heritage and family. We will miss his dedication to family and will always treasure his story telling and sense of humor. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, October 13, at the Good Shepherd Chapel, Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250 with services and interment immediately afterwards.
