Obituary - Clarence Dulaney Harr

BRISTOL - Clarence Dulaney "C.D." Harr , 77, went to be with the Lord Friday evening (Nov. 26, 2004) in NHC HealthCare of Bristol after a period of declining health.

A native and lifelong resident of Sullivan County, he was the son of the late Clarence Earl "Earl C." and Ella Clark Harr .

He was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Donna Lynn Harr ; and a son, Michael Edwin Harr , who died in Vietnam.

Mr. Harr served four years in the U.S. Navy. Following his return from service, he was employed at Kyle Motor Company, in Bristol, for a number of years. He then became a partner in Shankle- Harr Garage and later became owner/operator, where he worked until his retirement.

He was a member of Blountville Presbyterian Church, were he served as a Sunday School teacher, superintendent of Sunday School, choir member, treasurer, deacon and elder.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Dorothy "Dot" B. Wills Harr ; three sisters and husbands, Lucille and Grover Winegar, Sue and Fred Wagner, and Ann and Charles Mays, all of Blountville; five brothers and wives, Herman and Betty Harr , Wayne and Vivian Harr , and Jerry and Rebecca Harr , all of Blountville, Willard and Jerrie Harr , Centerville, Md., Dale and Virginia Harr , Kingsport; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Akard Funeral Home, Bristol, Tenn.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Blountville Presbyterian Church with the Rev. John Everett officiating.

Interment will be in Blountville Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be the following nephews, Gary Winegar, Mark Winegar, Phillip Wagner, Kevin Wagner, Ken Harr , Wesley Harr , Tim Harr and Charlie Mays.

Honorary pallbearers will be men of the Blountville Presbyterian Church and his friends.

Memorials may be made to the Blountville Presbyterian Church.
