Obituary - Dale Henson Dean

GATE CITY, VA - Dale H. Dean, age 86, of Yuma Road, went to be with the Lord late Saturday evening (June 17, 2006) at his residence after a long illness. He was born September 8, 1919 a son of the late Charlie and Bessie Andes Dean of Wise County, VA.

He was a member of Salley's Chapel Baptist Church, and a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from AFG in Kingsport as a Millwright and had also been a coal miner. He was a member of the Gate City American Legion post #265. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to many a person.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Marjorie Elizabeth Dean, sister, Velouise Dean and brother, Jack W. Dean.

Survivors include: 2 daughters: Elizabeth Fields and husband Paul of Gate City, VA and Jennifer Mullins and husband Gilmer of Gray, TN, 4 grandchildren: Lisa Bevins and husband Kevin, Sam Fields and wife Beth, Jonathan Mullins and special friends Sarah Cox, Rachel McCurry and husband Samuel, great-grandchildren, Whitney Bevins, Shawn Fields, Matthew Mullins, Shane Mullins and Hunter Mullins; 4 step-great-grandchildren, Tia Tilley, Katlin Tilley, Clayton Cooke and Nathan Cooke, sisters in law: Betty Cousins and husband Skettie, Aileen Lowe and Patsy Walker and husband Garr, brothers in law: Arthur Cress and wife Jimmie and Bill Cress, several nieces, nephews, cousin and many friends.

Calling hours will be Monday evening (June 19, 2006) from 6 until 8 PM at Scott County Funeral Home.

The funeral will follow at 8 PM in the chapel with Rev. Charles Boone and Rev. Wrightly Salling officiating. The burial will take place Tuesday morning (June 20, 2006) at 11 AM in the Holston View Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the American Legion Hammond Post #3/265. The color guard will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Men of Salley's Chapel Baptist Church.
