DELBERT D. BALDWIN
Delbert D. Baldwin, son of Ira and Susan Baldwin, was born in Vinton, Iowa, August 19, 1866. He passed away at his home in Edmond, Friday morning, November 26, 1948 from a heart attack. He moved with his parents to Northern Kansas in 1870. In 1886 he was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Viola Brooks. He made the race into the Cherokee Strip in 1893 and took a homestead in Garfield county where the family resided until moving to Edmond in 1903. Mr. Baldwin was engaged in business here for many years. He was a veteran peace officer acting as constable, police, city marshall or traffic officer for a period of twenty years. He has been a representative of the Pennsylvania Insurance Co. for thirty years. He was a member of the First Christian church of Edmond and has been an Odd Fellow for forty eight years. One daughter, Mrs. Hattie May Hunt, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Lenora Davis of Edmond, five granddaughters, Mrs. Pauline Hirschfield of Oklahoma City; Mrs. Irma Kennard of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma; Miss Roberta Davis of New York City; and Mrs. Murill Jennings and Miss Lorene Davis both of Edmond. He also leaves three sisters in California, two in Kansas. Services were held Sunday, November 23, in the Baggerley Funeral Chapel with Rev. O.W. Reese in charge. Burial was made in Gracelawn cemetery.
