Newport Miner, Aug 8, 1968 - Newport, WA Gilpin Funeral to Be Held Here Today Edward J. Gilpin, 71 years, whose home was in Puyllup, died Sunday, August 4, in a Tacoma hospital and the body was brought to Newport for interment. Mr. Gilpin, a retired hoisting engineer, was a veteran of World War I and a member for the VFW of Post Townsend, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Gladys at home in Puyallup; a daughter, Mrs. Jeanne Tromlbey of Newport; a stepson, Dewey Lane of Port Townsend; a brother, Chester Gilpin, Orting, Washington; four sisters-Bertha Zirk and Opal Sheherd, both of Seattle, Effie Calkins of Big Lake, Wash., and Roberta Larson of Port Townsend; one grandchild and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, August 8, at 1 p.m. in the Sherman chapel, Newport. Rev. William Hanly is officiating with interment in the Newport cemetery. |
