WASHINGTON COUNTY, Va. - Ella Mae Kilby, age 98, our beloved mother and grandmother, passed away quietly Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, at her home.
Ella Mae was born Sept. 13, 1909, to the late Harry and Elizabeth Canter.
She was a member of Lippincott Presbyterian Church and was employed by Big Jack Manufacturing. She had a great love for quilting and the outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence W. Kilby, one sister; four brothers and her son-in-law, Charles I. Anderson.
Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Colleen Anderson of Bristol Virginia; three sons, Jack Kilby and wife Carolyn of Randleman, N.C., and Charles Kilby and wife Violet and Harry B. Kilby and wife Lynda, all of Bristol Virginia; four granddaughters; three grandsons; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, in the Akard Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Scott Price officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30-6:45 p.m., prior to the service, or visit the family at the Kilby home.
The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in Mountain View Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Honorary pallbearer will be Eddie Canter.
