Jacob W. Bowman, aged Carmi resident. Born in Burns City, Indiana, 12 October 1857. died 29 April 1936. Age 78 years. 6 months.17 days. 

Married 3 May 1877 to Nackey A. Manley. They moved from Indiana to White County about forty years ago, and resided in Walnut Grove community. He moved to Carmi about twelve years ago. 

Mr. Bowman engaged in the grocery business, having a store on north Fifth Street for a short while. He then entered the taxi business and was active until shortly before his death. 

Nine children born. Two, Delmar and Nora preceded him death, Delmar at age twenty-one years and Nora, aged ten years. Surviving are Mrs. Bowman, seven children, Mrs. Ella Griesel, Carmi; Mrs. Alice Weirauch, Fort Pierre, South Dakota; Mrs. Zola Wagner, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Mrs. Willemina Reedy, Wessington Springs, South Dakota; Alva Bowman, Fort Pierre, South Dakota; Fay Bowman, Burlingham, California and Mrs. Mildred Honsinger, Detroit, Michigan. 

Funeral services held at First Baptist Church in Carmi. Burial: West Union Cemetery.
