John Daniel O'Neill

John O'Neill, a senior cost engineer with Kaiser Engineers for 30 years, died Thursday at Mt. Diablo Medical Center in Concord. He was 86. The native of Fargo, N.D., lived in Concord for 42 years and previously lived in Pleasant Hill. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and past president of the San Francisco Amateur Astronomers Club. He enjoyed gardening. He is survived by his sons, John O'Neill of Missoula, Mont., and William O'Neill of Salmon River; daughter, Maggi O'Neill of Concord; brother, William O'Neill of Fremont; sisters, Katherine Robinson of Seattle, Rosemary Jessmer of Lynnwood, Wash., and Clare Groth of Antelope; and one granddaughter. His wife, Olive, died in 1990.

Services: 10:30 a.m. liturgy Tuesday at St. Bonaventure Church, Concord, with burial at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Lafayette. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m., with 7 p.m. vigil Monday at Ouimet Bros. Concord Funeral Chapel.
