Kathleen E. Ivie

Kathleen E. Ivie, 95, of Shelbyville died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Major Hospital.

Born Nov. 3, 1913, in Shelby County, she was the daughter of James and Linnie (Kaster) Towns. She married Fred Ivie on Dec. 6, 1930, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 9, 1975.

Survivors include her son, Dan Ivie of Shelbyville; daughter, Linda Kay Amos of Shelbyville; brothers, Don Towns of Zionsville and Bill Towns of Poland, Ind.; sisters, America Sellers of Indianapolis and Rosie Metz of Zionsville; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her parents; son, Bud Ivie; daughter, Elizabeth Theobald; two brothers; and five sisters.

Mrs. Ivie was a lifelong Shelby County resident.

She retired from Admiral Corp. in 1977, after 25 years of service.

Mrs. Ivie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the Revs. Corlis Dees and Mark Dodd officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
