Obituary - Mamie L (Pendergrass) Garrett
GARRETT, MAMIE PENDERGRASS PEACHTREE CITY, GA -- Mamie Pendergrass Garrett, 96,
died Monday, April 17, 2000, in Southland Nursing Home in Peachtree City. She
was born in Washington County, VA, a daughter of the late James Robert and
Virginia Hughes Pendergrass. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in
Princeton, KY., and the widow of George W. Garrett. Surviving are six daughters,
Helen Arnold of Danville, VA., Edna Mitchell of Columbia, SC, Beula Brock of
Pensacola, FL, Shirley Tatum of Stone Mountain, Betty Strickland of Sharpsburg
and Thelma Icenhour of Douglasville; a sister, Nell Garrett of Bluff City, TN;
16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be
conducted Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in Akard Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gary
Soop will officiate. Burial will be in Knollkreg Cemetery in Abingdon.
Pallbearers will be Larry Mitchell, Keith Cochran, Wayne Garrett, Danny Garrett,
Roger Combs, Kevin Garrett and David Smith. The family will receive friends from
