Marion Francis Gosdin


Marion Francis Gosdin was born on Oct. 29, 1919, in Durant, Okla., to Noah Marcus and Lily D. Houk Gosdin. On March 25, 1942, he married Audrey Williams in South Mills, N.C. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Sears Tire & Automotive in 1983 after many years of service. Marion was a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #2466 in Lubbock, a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

He was a resident of Lubbock from the time he was a young boy until after his retirement in 1983. In 1984, he moved to Alamo Palms, in Alamo, Texas, and in 2003, in order to be closer to family, Katy, Texas, became his home. Marion Francis Gosdin passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, in Houston at the age of 84 years.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey N. Gosdin of Katy; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Joe Wells of Katy; his son, Jim Gosdin of Dallas; his granddaughter, Michelle Asbell and husband Bill of Katy; great- grandchildren, Hope O'Donnell, Will Asbell, and Alex Asbell, all of Katy; brother, Ron Gosdin and wife Geri of Waco; numerous nephews, other family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and older brother, Frank Gosdin. Private services will be held in Katy on Saturday, Sept. 25. A committal service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 27, in the Mausoleum at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock with Rev. John Ballard officiating.
