Funeral services for Marjorie White Shutters, 94, of Brenham, are scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, 2004 in the chapel of The Settegast-Kopf Co. Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. J. Daniel Joyce and the Rev. Gary Jeter officiating. Burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery. Mrs. Shutters passed away Friday, May 7, 2004.

Marjorie was born Nov. 29, 1909 in Beaumont, Texas to Jefferson and Mary White. She graduated in the 1928 class at French High School in Beaumont. She was employed by the United Gas Co. until World War II, when she ran her brother's business, The White Blueprint Co., while he was away. Mrs. Shutters was a partner and vice president from 1941 to 1947. She was a member of The First Christian Church of Beaumont, as well as Bethany Christian of Houston. She resided in West University until moving to Kruse Village in Brenham in 2000.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Donald Shutters; brothers, Roy E. White, Louie A. White and Frank E. White; sisters, Hazel Olga Mahan and Annie Mae Thompson; son-in-law, Tolbert Taite; and great-granddaughter, Julie Ann Dahmann.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Jo Ann Stika Taite of Brenham; granddaughter, Karen Kay Dahmann and husband Fred of Brenham; grandson, Timothy C. Taite and wife Robin of Sugar Land, Texas; and great-grandchildren, Danielle and Zachary Dahmann.

Honorary pallbearers are Fred and Zachary Dahmann, Tim Taite, Roy White Jr., Jeff Mahan, Jo Allen Mahan, Teddy Lee Mahan and Pete Martinez.

The family will receive family and friends at the funeral home today from 4-6 in the evening.

Donations of remembrance may be made to The First Christian Church of Brenham, The Bethany Christian Church of Houston or to Hospice.

The family wishes to thank all the members of the staff at Kruse Memorial Lutheran Village for the love you gave my mother, grandmother and friend.

A memorial service at Kruse Village for Marjorie will be announced at a later date.
