thanks to Ralph Harris for this obituary:

Mrs. Martha Harris

The death of Mrs Martha Harris, age seventy three years, a member of Bogg's Creek church since sixteen years of age, occurred at the home of her sister in Elnora on Monday, August 27, 1923.

She was the widow of the late John Harris and was born January 4, 1850. She leaves to mourn her loss six children and five step children, scores of other relatives and friends who will miss her kind words, her upright example, her ministering hand, as she went far and near helping the sick and sorrowing. During the long years of Christian service her faith never wavered and her testimony in her dying hours of her joy and comfort in going Home gave evidence of her firm trust in her Savior.

Rev. W. J. Neal of Stanford, her pastor twenty eight years ago, delivered the funeral message, commenting upon her great interest in the furtherance of the Gospel Missions, the work of the Bedford Association, and her hope of Heaven. The large number attending the funeral gave silent evidence of the high esteem in which she was held. Bogg's Creek church is the poorer because of her loss and not only the church but the community.
