Obituary - Paul J Shepherd

BRISTOL, Tenn.  Paul James Shepherd, age 83, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007, at Hermitage Care Center in Elizabethton.

He was born in Washington County, Va., a son to the late Walter and Verdie Brewer Shepherd. He was a self-employed contractor and a member of Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church. Mr. Shepherd was a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.

Survivors include wife, Berchie Payne Shepherd; daughters, Paula Susan Montgomery and husband Herb, Sharon Carrier and husband Larry, Mary Beth Abston and husband David, Lori Shepherd Hill and husband Steve, Angela Shepherd Peters and husband Frank; son, Eric Shepherd and wife Janene; sisters, Mary Mahan, Nadine Suttle and Flo Johnson; brothers, Roy Shepherd and Walter Shepherd; foster daughter, Bonnie Greene and husband Greg; 12 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 20, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Rick Light officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. Pallbearers include Chuck Barker, Garnet Barker, Kevin Montgomery, John Carrier, Scott Abston, Jamie Carrier, Jeremy Smith, Danny Abston and Roby Hutton. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at Weaver Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Eastern Heights Presbyterian Church at 431 Old Jonesboro Road, Bristol, TN. The family would like to say a special thanks to Hermitage Care Center and Caris Hospice for their care and concern and to the Veterans Administration for all their help.
