OBITUARY...
Robert R. Davis, a retired army major, died Sunday of a cerebral hemorrhage in
the Edmond hospital. Services were at 2:00 pm Tuesday in the Baggerly funeral
home. He was born in 1886 in Pennsylvania and joined the army in 1904. He served
in the Philippines, and in 1907 was sent to South Dakota to aid in quieting the
Ute-Indian uprising. Nine years later he served on the Mexican border with the
forces of Gen. John J. Pershing. From 1935 to 1940 he was district adj. of
C.C.C. During World War I, he went overseas with the American expeditionary
forces, and in 1921, Davis was stationed in Oklahoma City with the 2nd military
area, remaining here until his retirement in 1933 with the rank of major. For
the past 21 years, with the exception of two years during World War II when he
was recalled to active duty, Davis had made his home in Edmond with his wife the
former Lenora Baldwin. In addition to his wife, Davis is survived by three
daughters, Mrs. Roberta Whelan of Brooklyn, New York, and Muriel and Lorene
Davis, both of 3016 North Robinson; three sisters; two brothers; and a
granddaughter all of Connecticut. Burial was in Gracelawn cemetery.
