Obituary - Ruth N (Majewski) Kauffman

Ruth N. Kauffman, 83, of Greeley, formerly of Loveland, died Thursday, Dec. 4, at Kenton Manor in Greeley.

She was born Aug. 5, 1920, at Sleepy Eye, Minn., to Jesse and Nonny (Schmidt) Majewski.

Mrs. Kauffman grew up in Sleepy Eye and, after high school, worked for a photographer, hand-tinting color onto black and white photographs. She moved to Longmont in 1947 to pursue other interests and worked at a Woolworth's. She sang with a band and, during a Jitney dance near Dacono, she met Walter Kauffman. They were married Dec. 23, 1950, in Longmont and lived on farms in the Johnstown-Milliken area. They moved to Loveland in 1960. Mr. Kauffman died Nov. 23, 1985.

Mrs. Kauffman worked for Scientific Electronics from 1962-69 and for Hewlett-Packard from 1969-74 when she retired. She moved to Greeley in 1987. She enjoyed camping, crafts, music and reading. She was a poet. One of her watercolor paintings was one of 50 selected from 800 to be auctioned to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.

Mrs. Kauffman was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors are two daughters, Nonny Lynn McChesney and husband Paul of Loveland and Trudy Lea Wolfe and husband James of Evans; two granddaughters, Charity Aragon and husband David of Eaton and Trina Wolfe of Evans; and two great-grandchildren, Isabelle Wolfe and Ethan James Aragon. Her parents, a sister, Louise, and a brother, Peter, are deceased.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Adamson Memorial West Chapel. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.

Friends may visit from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday at the West Chapel.
