Thomas W. Shutters, 62

Thomas W. Shutters, 62 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on June 9, 2007.

He was born on February 19, 1945 and graduated from Greensburg High School in 1963. He worked for Whalen Construction during the summers while attending Western Kentucky University. Upon graduation in 1968, he then taught Health and Physical Education at IPS School #81 for several years. He then worked for Farm Bureau Insurance for 20 years and was a self-employed home appraiser.

He is survived by his daughter, Amy (Chuck) Beasley; son, Timothy (Ann) Shutters; siblings, Dick, Mike, Terry, Phil, Jerry and Kevin Shutters, Annette Sweat, and Linda Williams; and five grandchildren, Claire, Sarah, Tanner, Haylee, and Jeremy.

A member of the Clermont Jaycees, he enjoyed coaching and made it a priority in his life. In addition to coaching while a teacher at IPS School #81, he coached his own children in various sports off-and-on for many years. He also served as Assistant Coach at Westfield High School for two years, while his daughter, Amy, was Varsity Coach.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 16 at 2 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Fishers-Castleton Chapel, 9900 Allisonville Rd., with one hour visitation prior to services.
