Deceased Name: Velma Jean Dickey A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, in Lone Fir Cemetery in Long Beach, Wash., for Velma Jean Dickey, who died May 29 at age 79.

Velma Jean Hobbs was born April 4, 1923, in Fairview, Kan. She moved to Longview, Wash., in 1948. She worked as a meat cutter, bartender and waitress. She also owned and operated a restaurant and later was an assembly line worker for Boeing. She moved to Lincoln City in 1984 and to Portland in 1997. In 1967, she married Albert H.; he died in 2000.

Survivors include her brothers, Loren W. Hobbs, Billy D. Hobbs, Jesse H. Hobbs and Larry E. Hobbs; and sister, Eudora Kilgore.
