Obituary - Wanda (Hancock) Ooton

Wanda Ooton, 64, passed away at 9:53 p.m. Saturday, July 28, 2007, at home with her family by her side.

She was born Feb. 21, 1943, the daughter of Justin and Eliouse (Yates) Hancock, and was raised by Damon and Edith Fry.

She married Roland Schoenleber on July 30, 1960. He died Jan. 29, 1975.

She is survived by her mother; a special friend, Donald Brown of Bethalto; three daughters and a son-in-law, Nina and Richard Madison of Edwardsville, Iris Schoenleber of St. Louis and Dawn Schoenleber of Carpenter, Ill.; two grandchildren, Richard Paul Madison and Christina Nicole Madison; a great-grandson, Richard Tanner Madison, all of Edwardsville; two sisters, Delores Hazelwood of Littleton, Colo., and Marlene Martinez of Mireno Valley, Calif.; a half brother, Kenneth Logan of Phoenix; three half sisters, Aleta Bartlett of Plano, Texas, Marilyn Merrill of Mesa, Ariz., and Jeanice Faulkner of Dallas; and a nephew, Aaron Hazelwood of Godfrey.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Elias, Kallal and Schaaf Funeral Home, 727 E. Bethalto Blvd., Bethalto.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River with the Rev. Martin Schultz officiating.

Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery in Edwardsville.

Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation or to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wood River.
