Willie Neff Sergent , Jonesville, Va.

JONESVILLE, Va. - Willie Neff Sergent was born Feb. 29, 1912 in Lee County, Va. and passed away Monday (Nov. 6, 2006) at Claiborne County Hospital in Tazewell, Tenn., at the age of 94.

A lifelong resident of Lee County, Va., she retired from Rogers 5 & 10 as manager. Mrs. Sergent was a very active member of Campground United Methodist Church, serving numerous positions including superintendent of Sunday school, Sunday school teacher, and a member of WSCS (Womans Society of Christian Service). She was a former member and president of Jonesville High School PTA .

She was preceded in death by her husband, Birg B. Sergent ; her parents, William and Susie Anders Neff; one child, Johnny Wilburn Sergent ; one sister, Nettie M. Hopkins; and four brothers, Jefferson Neff, James Moss Neff, Ed Neff and David Neff.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Birg E. and Lana Kay Sergent of Pennington Gap, Va.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn Sue and Sam Beaty of Ewing, Va., Ann and Jerry Miller of Germantown, Ohio and Nancy and Iver Jeter of Kingston, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Monica McElyea and husband, Jeff of Breckenridge, Colo., Tonya Miller of Stokesdale, N.C., Derek Jeter of Nashville, Tenn., Mindy J. Money and husband, Sean of Charleston, S.C.; special sister-in-law, Ann Neff; special caregivers, Jim Hopkins and wife, Natella.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Arney-Mullins Funeral Home in Jonesville, Va.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Wayne Rader officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Va.
