Albert Henry Dickey, 82, formerly of Klipsan Beach, died April 29, 2000, in a Portland foster care home. He was born May 2, 1917, in Spangle, Wash., to Lewis and Cora (Keeton) Dickey. As a young man, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Depression years.

He then played professional baseball in Eastern Washington before joining the Army in World War II. Upon his discharge after four years' service, he began working for Boeing Aircraft as an inspector. He retired from Boeing in 1974 after a 29-year career. Retiring to Klipsan Beach in 1976, he resided there until 1982, when he moved to Lincoln City, Ore. Illness in 1997 forced his move to Portland to be near family. Mr. Dickey was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed the slower pace of life at the beach.

He and Velma Jean Hobbs were married in 1967.She survives him in Portland.
