Alfred Clayton Fulford, 72, of Winter Haven, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2007, at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center, due to heart failure.
 
Mr. Fulford was born Aug. 5, 1935, in Geneva, Ala., to Bishop and Ethel (Simms) Fulford. Mr. Fulford has been a resident of Polk County since 1960, coming from Alabama. He was a retired truck driver for Gray Truck Line, retiring in 1996. He was a U.S. Army veteran, havings served during the Korean War. He was past president of Imperial Polk Skeet and Trap Club, past president of the National Truckers Union, member of the Winter Haven Moose Lodge and an avid pilot. He was of the Baptist faith.
 
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Maxine T. Fulford in 1997; and two brothers, Daniel Fulford and Neil Newberry.
 
Mr. Fulford is survived by his loving family, a son, Alfred "Buddy" Fulford Jr. of Auburndale; four daughters, Sonya (Hugh) Charmaine Davis-Holman of Winter Haven; Susan (Sam) Masters of Lakeland, Stacey (Allan) Hall of Auburndale, and Alison Fulford of Winter Haven; eight grandchildren, Sam, Joshua, Chase, Brooke, A.J., Heather, Chad and Clayton; and a great-grandson, Landon.
 
Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at Kersey Funeral Home, in Auburndale. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with interment to follow at the Lakeside Memorial Park with military honors. The family will receive friends and family after the graveside at Sonya's home.
