 Samantha Bernice <I>Wolfe</I> McKnight

Samantha "Bernice" passed away on November 12th, 2020 in her residence at 106 years old.

She was born on July 21st, 1914 in Kentucky and was the daughter of Robert Jeptha Wolfe and Emily (King) Wolfe. Bernice has spent the majority of her long life in Washington County, Indiana. She was a member of the Mill Creek Baptist Church in Salem. She was a part of the Salem High School class of 1934 and graduated from IU Bloomington.

Bernice was a retired employee of the Welfare Department in Salem and she also taught braille to the visually impaired.
In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her children, grand and great grandchildren.
Bernice loved many things such as traveling, living in Florida and Arizona, quilting, painting and camping with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed volunteering in her younger days.

Samantha Bernice was voted the regional mental health chairman of the Indiana Association of Mental Health and was voted Woman Of The Year by the Tri Kappa Sorority, where she was a member.

She was joined in marriage on October 5th, 1935 to Lawrence O. McClellan whom passed away on April 23rd, 1977. She is preceded in death by a son, Frank E. McClellan, her parents, a brother Denman Wolfe, a sister Haskell Shearer, 2 grandsons Anthony Hollen and Brad Schneck and her second husband Edwin Mcknight.

She is survived by 2 sons: Walter (Linda) McClellan; Jerry (Dale) McClellan; 2 daughters: Kay England; Jo (Greg) Brown and 1 brother Robert Wolfe of Okeechobee, FL.
Bernice has 14 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 10 great great grandchildren.

There will be a Graveside Service followed by the committal at 2 pm Monday November 17th in Crown Hill Cemetery in Salem.
