Obituary of Bettie Walker Queen

Bettie Louise Walker Queen, 92, of Dallas passed away Nov. 17, 2017, in Dallas.

She was born March 2, 1925, in Irving. She was a 1943 graduate of Irving High School.

She and her husband of 69 years, J. Boyd Queen, lived and worked in the East Dallas and Lakewood areas of Dallas. They founded a CPA firm that grew into Queen, Biel and Fisette. She worked side by side with her husband until their retirement from the firm in 1988. Bettie was a member of East Dallas Christian Church for more than 60 years, and she was a longtime member of the Sanders Class. She loved people and was active in numerous social and service organizations including the Altrusa Club of Dallas, the Lions Club, book clubs and investment clubs. Her favorite pastime was playing bridge. Bettie was proudest of her family.

She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Bruce and Sally Queen, Bob and Patsy Queen, and Brian and Karen Queen; five grandchildren, Heather, Chris, Allison, Michelle and Melissa; and four great-grandchildren, Lauren, Lexie, Courtney and Justin. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2014.

Visitation with the family will be from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday, Nov. 25, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway in Dallas. A memorial tribute will follow morning worship services Sunday, Nov. 26, at East Dallas Christian Church, 629 N. Peak Street in Dallas. The church will host a luncheon after the tribute. In lieu of flowers, the family request you make a donation to your favorite charity in Bettie’s name.
