Obituary - Billy Glenn Johnston

Billy Glenn Johnston went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2009.

He was born to Glenn Thomas and Margaret Ruby (Littau) Johnston on January 23, 1940, in Grainola, Oklahoma.

Bill graduated from Ponca City High School and earned a B.S. Degree from Oklahoma City University where he was a member of the Chiefs basketball team, having played for Coach Abe Lemons from 1958-1963. During his working career, Bill was employed in various management positions with Goodyear, Conoco and Kerr-McGee. In 1978, Bill made the decision to go into business for himself and was self-employed until health problems forced him to retire.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife Velta daughters Gayle Hunt (Adam) of Clinton, MO, Minda Johnston of Edmond, OK and son Lance Johnston (Dyanna) of Travis AFB, California. Also grandchildren, Aaron and Ariel Hunt and Lanaye and Domenic Johnston. He is also survived by his children's mother, Patricia Hull of Oklahoma City, OK.

Bill always spoke his mind, was passionate, loyal and will always be remembered for his zest for life, even these last few years as the recipent of an LVAD as he waited and hoped for a heart transplant.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on May 1, 2009, at Peace Lutheran Church in Edmond with burial at 3 p.m. at Resthaven Cemetery in Ponca City, OK. Services are under direction of Matthews Funeral Home-Edmond, Oklahoma.
