ABINGDON – Bobby J. Ketchum, age 66, a well-known resident of the Black Hollow community, passed away Saturday, March 6, 2004, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital.
 
He was a native of Washington County, Va., and a son of the late Hugh Ketchum and late Hazel Nunley Ketchum. He was an employee of Black Diamond Enterprises for many years and worked at American Longwall before his retirement. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Ketchum, and two brothers, Hubert Ketchum and Don Ketchum.
 
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Pippin Ketchum of Abingdon; one son, Gary Ketchum and wife Rita of Bristol Tennessee; two daughters, Shelia Ketchum Owens and husband Bryan of Bristol Virginia and Sandra Ketchum Hawkins and husband Kenneth of Abingdon; two brothers, John (Mack) Ketchum and wife Viola of Bristol Virginia and Dennis Ketchum of Abingdon; three sisters, Phyllis Ketchum Greer and husband Bill of Abingdon, Linda Ketchum Casey and husband Bill of Abingdon and Carol Ketchum Mutter and husband Floyd of Abingdon; a sister-in-law, Yvonne Ketchum of Abingdon; five grandchildren, Brooklynn Owens, Landon Owens, Erica Ketchum, Josh Hayes and Timmy Hayes, and several nieces and nephews.
 
Funeral services for Bobby J. Ketchum will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, March 8, 2004, in the Campbell Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Jerry A. Eggers officiating. Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Hickman, Hobart Arnold, Terry Ketchum, James Nunley, Tim Scott, Timmy Scott, Larry Ketchum, Bill Casey, Bill Greer and Floyd Mutter.
