Obituary - Carolyn Sue (Carter) Massey

Carolyn Sue Massey, age 64 of Port Orange, Florida, passed away Feb. 28 at Halifax Medical Center in Port Orange. She was born August 25, 1943 in Middlesboro, KY, to E. Glade and Gladys Carter. She married Bobby H. Massey on September 24, 1964 in Indianapolis, IN She was a cosmetologist for over 30 years and owned and operated The Hair Shoppe in South Daytona for the past 20 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars. She was a loving mother and doting grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
 
She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers; James and Eugene Carter, and a special Yorkie named Brat.
 
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Jeff Neville; granddaughter, Kelsey Neville; grandson, Jacob Neville; Goodrich, MI., sister, Pauline Lorton; brother and sister-in-law, Ernest and Ruth Carter; sister and brother-in-law, Euline (Mickey) and Donald Fenter; brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Ginger Carter; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Steven Turner; numerous nieces and nephews. She had many, many special friends including her clients who she considered to be her extended family.
 
Graveside services and interment were held March 6 in the Leach Cemetery in Lake City.
 
Hatmaker Funeral Home of Lake City was in charge of the arrangements.
