Obituary - Cathy Mae (Cox) Gritton

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday (August 12, 2009) at South Shores Christian Church, with visitation on Tuesday (August 11, 2009) from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at South Shores Christian Church. Internment will be at Point Pleasant Cemetery at a later date. Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Cathy was born on February 23, 1947 in Litchfield, IL, the daughter of Loren Cox and Billie (Andrews) Cox. As a child she lived in Livingston, IL until the mid 1950s when her family moved to Decatur, IL. There, Cathy graduated from Eisenhower High School in 1965 and married Ken Gritton on February 19, 1966.

Cathy was member of South Shores Christian Church. She was available to most anyone as a friend or mentor and became like a mother to many. She lived a life rich in relationships and gave of herself to her family, extended family, church and community through cooking, sewing, crafts, listening and teaching.

Surviving are her husband: Kenneth Gritton of Decatur, IL; children: Paul Gritton and wife Carolyn of Crystal Lake, IL, William (Bill) Gritton and wife Cynthia of Zionsville, IN, Heather Hrubesky and husband Michael of Appleton, WI, and a friend, loved like family, Hernan Cubillos and wife Karoliina of Santiago, Chile; grandchildren: Emily Hrubesky, Alicia Hrubesky, Benjamin Gritton, Madison Gritton, Ethan Gritton, Jacob Gritton, Willem Gritton, Mason Gritton, as well as Hernans children Francisca and Catalina. Catalina is named after Cathy; mother: Billie Cox of Blue Mound, IL; siblings: Lorna Ellis, Valerie Meritt, Mark Cox, and Lisa Iler

She was preceded in death by her father Loren Cox and brother Jim Cox.
