Mr. Charles R. “Charlie” Mahan II, age 42, threw off the shackles of this world and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 1, 2012.  He passed away at home in the peaceful, loving care of his family following an extended illness.  He was the only son of the late Charles Ray Mahan and Jewel Noblitt Mahan of Marion.  A more giving, kindhearted man would be difficult to find and he proved himself a very special friend to many.  He loved the culinary arts and practiced his trade at many restaurants in the area included Fairfield Mountain Resorts and The Biltmore Estate.  He will be remembered as a loving father, son, brother and friend to many.

Surviving, in addition to his mother are his son, William Scott “Scotty” Mahan of the home; his two sisters, Angel and Amanda Hope Mahan, both of Marion; a niece, Elaina Mahan; a nephew, Caleb Silver; and numerous cousins and special friends.

A service to celebrate his life will be held on Friday August 3, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Westmoreland Chapel.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in McDowell Memorial Park.
