Obituary for Cristina M. Andis
Cristina Margarita Marrufo Andis joined the love of her life, Richard L.
Andis, in heaven on June 1, 2017. Their union on earth lasted 61 years. She
will be interred beside her husband at Ft Bliss National Cemetery.
She was born December 15, 1939 in Ciudad Camargo, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Cristina was the eldest of six children born to Antonio Ventura Marrufo and
Luz Esperanza Dominguez.
While attending school in San Diego, California she met, fell in love and
married her husband, Dick and began her life as a “Navy Wife”. During the
next 15 years, she embraced the challenges of making a “new” home for her
sons and husband at 7 different duty assignments.
In 1970, they made El Paso their permanent home. Cristina began working as a
teller for El Paso Federal Savings and Loan. Through her dedication, skills
and warmth, she gained the respect among her peers and became Senior Vice
President at El Paso Federal and Capital Savings.
Cristina was preceded in death by her husband, Dick Andis, her parents
Antonio & Esperanza Marrufo, and her brothers, Enrique and Antonio Marrufo.
Cristina is survived by her sons, Richard (Joy) and Dan (Kathi) Andis; five
grandchildren, Harley Andis, Patrick (Kasey) Andis, Danielle (Chad) Adams,
Ricky and Emily Andis; four great grandchildren, Harley Cole Andis, Kathleen
Grace Adams, James Owen and Luke Daniel Andis. She is also survived by her
sisters Luz Marrufo, Cristina Aguilar, Lupita Marrufo and many nieces and
nephews that she adored.
While retaining her deep love of Mexico, she was proudly sworn in as a
citizen of the United States of America. Cristina was an active and
dedicated member of St Pius X Catholic Church.
Visitation will be on Thursday, June 15th from 4:00-9:00pm with a
Vigil/Rosary at 7:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home on 750 N Carolina Dr, El Paso,
TX 79915. On Friday, June 16th a 10:30am a Funeral Mass will be held at St.
Pius X Catholic Church,1050 N Clark Dr, El Paso, TX 79905.
