Obituary - Clarence Edward Kegley

Clarence E. Kegley, 79, of Bristol, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior and with his parents and family on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Cambridge House. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Oral and Hattie Josephine Moore Kegley; two sisters, Loretta Leonard and Willie Comer; and two brothers, Fred and Mack Kegley.

Mr. Kegley was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He retired as the head clerk of Kroger’s after 39 years of service. His passion was restoring and upholstering furniture. Mr. Kegley loved traveling, watching football and western movies. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan.

Mr. Kegley is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Patsy Hammond Kegley; daughter, Karen Griffin and husband Steve; son, Jeffery Kegley and wife Michelle; grandchildren, Karena Lunsford and husband Josh, Holly Kegley, Stephanie Griffin, Ethan Kegley and Blake Griffin; sisters, Marie Adams, Rosa Smith and Polly Alexander; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow with Reverend Scott Price officiating. The committal and entombment will follow in The Heritage Chapel of Memories at Glenwood Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard Post # 6975. Active pallbearers will be Ethan Kegley, Blake Griffin, Josh Lunsford, Matthew Lunsford, John Robert Hammond and James Blevins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dwayne Raines, John I. Hammond, Steve Griffin, and co-workers from Kroger’s.

The family would like to extend special thanks to all of the health care professionals who cared for Mr. Kegley during his illness.
